Here are the contestants gunning for the title of "Best Chili." From left to right: Tony Gregory, web producer, Michelle Buffardi, online editor and Terrence Pitre, web developer.
This isn't the most appetizing photo but I SWEAR each and every chili tasted amazing.
Michelle whips up her Black Bean and Espresso Chili. One of the fixings for this chili was chocolate. I've never had chili w/ chocolate before -- I'm now a fan of it.
TJ has been working with Emeril for a few years. Naturally, he made Emeril's Chili with a side of Emeril's Andouille Spoonbread. Doesn't the spoonbread look delish?
Tony Gregory whipped up " Who's Your Daddy Chili." Basically, it's Texas chili with some home-brewed jalapeno stout in it. His side was Honey Cornbread. This tray was empty by the end of the night.
Here's a shot of Michelle's side: Baked White Polenta with Two Cheeses. It went perfect with her chocolate-y chili.
I have a BIG weakness for cupcakes so I brought these sweet treats from Magnolia Bakery!
A tired looking Biscuit. His pops is Tony Cruz, EVP of Emeril Brands.
For the judging process, all the chili's and sides were color coded. The contestants wanted to remain anonymous! So if you picked a chili with a red tag on the pot, you had to put it in a red bowl and eat the accompanying side on a red plate and so on!
We had to cast our votes on this piece of paper. The purple square was for a contestant who called out sick at the last minute. I think he was intimidated by the competition!
And the judging begins!
Here are the contestants again, enjoying a post cook-off drink. Tony received first place with his "Who's your daddy chili." TJ scored second place and Michelle came in at third. I can't stress how good each and every chili tasted. It was hard to pick a fav!
The rest of the judges aka party goers take advantage of the backyard.
